At Olive Tree Shop you have the opportunity to adopt an olive tree in our centuries-old olive grove La Ratera, located in the picturesque Torrebesses de Lleida, in Catalonia. This olive grove consists mainly of Arbequina and Verdal olive trees. We also house some rare wild specimens.
Our olive grove is a dry olive grove, which means that the trees (and the herbs between them) are fed exclusively by rainwater. At a time when intensive farming is becoming the norm, we consciously choose to preserve a traditional way of growing - even if it is more difficult financially.
Making a dry olive grove profitable is almost impossible. Yet we persevere, because we want to uphold tradition, not pursuing mass production. The work is hard, the risks are great, but what we get in return is priceless:
a premium extra virgin olive oil.
